Blue Jasmine, the movie

Since I was unable to live up to the NY Times review of Tovarich, I will review Blue Jasmine, which I saw last weekend.

I thought it was a re-make of Streetcar named Desire but set in San Francisco as opposed to New Orleans.

The fall from grace (and money) of a woman named for the flower Evening of Jasmine, this was a depressing movie showing Jasmine as shallow, grasping after the finer things of life and descending finally into madness.  She is shown at the movie’s end sitting on a park bench chattering to herself, lost in her mind.

Any redeeming features?  Yes, it wasn’t too long a movie!
